Concepts

What we took over by the expression “green dentistry” comes from a concept which has started being put into practice for several years at European level. We are speaking about Green Dentistry, a project initiated in July 2004 by the "Hellenic Department of the European Dental Students Association", and operating under the auspices the EDSA (European Dental Students Association). The funding is provided by the European Union, within the Youth programme.

This programme is trying to provide solutions for the ecologic management of the dentistry wastes, the materials and substances used in the practices requiring handling and storage under special conditions.

Account was taken, as well, of the creation of a communication network between the dentists. The ones who belong to this network of environment-friendly dentistry clinics can exchange opinions, solutions, can come with propositions and innovations in order to make the implementation of the Green Dentistry concept be a success.
