Consultation

It is the first step in the physician-patient communication. This is the time when the medical path to be followed in the case of every patient is being established.
The objectives of the initial medical consultation
- To allow the physician and patient to get mutually acquainted
- To establish the patient’s dental status
- To allow the physician to find out the patient’s medical history (chronic diseases, sensitivities, allergies, medical interventions, affections and genetic predispositions)
- To understand the patient’s needs on short and long term and his/her preferences (treatment frequency, hourly intervals available for presenting himself/herself at the dentist, pain resistance, etc.)
- To draw a sketch of the treatment plan by presenting the existing options and the cost estimate
- To perform X-rays (where applicable)
- To prepare the patient’s medical record (identity, medical information, contact data).
